Ship Salvage

Why Ship and Marine salvage? A piece that shares the history of a vessel and it's components. When recovering a ship and its cargo after a shipwreck or when found in a wrecking yard searching for maritime casualty, the salvage are those formerly working parts that may encompass portholes, lights, doors, anchors, ship wheels, lanterns and more.

Stripped lights can be brought to life with today's UL Wiring. Patina, marks, rust and lettering only add to the characteristics of the pieces.

Every piece tells a story and has texture, age and unique finishes. There's also a vast array of unique shapes, sizes and finishes that will complete the coastal look you want for every room in your home.

Add in those nautical decorations that evoke the spirit of the ocean with our collection of nautical decor from around the world. It is important that you bring in key elements that are unique, authentic and weathered by the sea. Give any room a salty maritime flavor that will capture the true essence of the sea. These timeless and hard to find pieces will bring time worn imperfections into your nautical home.

Authentic ship passageway lights, dock lights, running lights and spot lights. They are all one-of-a-kind finds. When used in your coastal home they become that conversation piece with a little taste of history.

Driftwood Pieces

Driftwood is floating wood that has washed ashore due to the actions of the elements. Most of us connect this type of twisted, rustic wood with the ocean but driftwood can also be found near lakes and rivers. Since the wood can float for quite a bit of time, it is often bleached by the sun, pitted and porous.

Most of the driftwood used for furniture  is found along riverbanks, at the edges of lakes, or along the beach. It's a misconception that driftwood is only found on a beach. In the state of Florida, anyone can collect driftwood pieces.

The naturally shaped cones make for beautiful accent pieces indoors or out. The planks when hung parallel to the floor look gorgeous as a mantle, an accent piece over the headboard.

For our best selling table bases, pieces are hand selected and custom built to your specifications. The wood is sandblasted and waxed by hand. Perfectly leveled and securely bolted, hidden within the design. The wood is treated with sealant with little to no sheen.

Available finishes:  natural beige, white washed, and natural light brown. Specialty finishes or deeper finishes will require an additional charge based on the size of the table base and final color.

Almost all of the driftwood for furniture is cedar driftwood or miscellaneous species that stand the test of time. These are all unique and made to order.

ELEMENTS OF DECORATING:

Visual: Remember to create balance & visual interest by arranging objects of different shapes and sizes in an asymmetrical arrangement. Balance a large temple jar with a few smaller ones in different shapes. Group the jars together to increase the arrangement's visual weight and overlap shapes to create layers. Same would be for a trio of vases, a bowl of seaglass or a stack of books.

Texture:Texture is important for making a living room thoughtful, interesting and cozy. Soft fabrics that appeal to the touch mixed with harder textures that add contrast glass, plants, seagrass, wood, ceramic and more.

Contrast: Mix lights with darks. Keeping in sync with a beach house palette, the lights are white, tan and soft hues of blue. Then contrast this by adding darker tan, browns, deep blue and navy blue. This mixing of color can be done with a white sofa and darker print pillows. Try a whitewash pine table topped with rich cobalt and white temple jars. A dark side table with a white lamp.

Pops of Color: It always adds a point of interest when you introduce some hints of color. A vase of poppies. A row of colorful, assorted pillows, a rug with a grass green stripe. A piece of coastal art with a rich red boat for the focal point. Why not add a bold chandelier or an coral lamp? There are so many ways to add the pops of color from top to bottom for any room you're decorating.
