Like most seating pieces, slipcovered furniture construction begins with a base piece such as a sofa or chair which are hand-crafted from hardwoods then assembled to make the frame. The custom manufacturing process continues with crafting the backs and adding sinuous springs in the seat base. In the finishing process, the frame is padded with regenerated fiber cushioning that is then contained, shaped and upholstered with a muslin base. The muslin base keeps the layer of fabric over it, in place and adds to the overall comfort. Then, the muslin base, seat and back cushions are covered beautifully with a choice of fabric to fully customize the piece which is referred to as the slipcover.
Not only can you choose from a variety of designer fabrics, the cushion fill can be selected as well to fit your personal needs. Essentially, the concept of slipcovered seating combines both traditional and modern furniture products; all hand-made to with a fitted slipcover created from a variety of fabric options that is specifically cut and sewn to perfectly fit the frame. The fabrics available for the slipcover are cotton twills, canvas, linen, linen-blends, denim, performance fabrics and more. Each fabric provides a wide range of choices to create your own look of casual comfort in a relaxed, eloquent style. Fabric slipcovered sofas, chairs, and other furniture have evolved to not only provide ideal comfort, but to deliver several benefits.
