Driftwood - from the shoreline to your home
Find out how driftwood can become furniture.
A driftwood base is a hand-designed furniture element that uses naturally weathered, sea-worn driftwood as the foundation for the base. Driftwood refers to pieces of wood that have been washed up by the sea or carried by rivers, often taking on a unique, rustic appearance after being weathered by the elements over time. These pieces are hand-crafted into the legs, which in turn support or makes the structural base of a table. Our driftwood artisan creates one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture that are both functional and visually striking. Each piece is different and special to the client.

Driftwood in the Home
What is Driftwood Furniture?
A driftwood table typically consists of the natural, sun-bleached wood is collected from beaches or riverbeds, often shaped by the water and elements into irregular, organic forms. The wood is cleaned, dried, and then finished in a soft opaque whitewash or a natural tan finish. A light layer of sealant is added to the finished piece. The surface of the wood is smoothed to support the top and remain level on the floor surface. To showcase the beauty of the piece, the top is glass. When you specify the finished size of the piece, the artisan carefully crafts the driftwood base to accommodate the size AND shape of the chosen glass.

Uniquely One-of-a-Kind
Why Use a Driftwood Table Base
Unique Aesthetic
Each piece of driftwood is different, which means every driftwood table base is
unique. The texture, shape, and color of the wood are influenced by the environment it came from, adding a natural, organic feel to the furniture. It’s perfect for creating a statement piece in coastal or bohemian-inspired interiors.
Eco-Friendly
Driftwood is typically a
sustainable material, as it’s often reclaimed from beaches or waterways where it has already undergone a natural process of weathering. Using driftwood as a base for furniture helps repurpose wood that would otherwise go to waste.
Rustic Charm & Organic Appeal
The weathered, textured look of driftwood adds a rustic,
natural charm to any space. It’s especially fitting for coastal, beach-themed, or naturalistic interior designs, evoking the feel of the sea and outdoor environments. Driftwood’s imperfections—knots, grooves, and faded colors—bring warmth and character to a room.
Durability
Because driftwood has already been exposed to the elements, it’s
naturally weathered
and hardened. When properly treated, driftwood can be incredibly durable, making it a long-lasting option for furniture. The process of aging also gives it a timeless, enduring appeal.
Customizable
Driftwood furniture can be highly customizable, the artisan is able to shape the driftwood into a variety of styles—creating one-of-a-kind designs to intricate, sculptural forms. This allows for a personalized touch to fit a variety of home decor styles.
Conversation Piece
Due to its unique nature and organic beauty, a driftwood table base often becomes the focal point of a room! With the clear glass top, it’s an excellent choice if you want to add a piece of furniture that sparks conversation and draws admiration from guests.
Versatility in Design
While driftwood is often associated with coastal interiors, it can also work in modern spaces. The contrast between the rough, natural base and the sleek, polished glass tabletop, it creates an interesting juxtaposition that adds sophistication and character.
