A Coastal Gem: Our Stay at Hotel Marmorata in Ravello, Italy
As a team that lives and breathes coastal design through it’s not every day that we find a hotel that feels like a soul connection. But nestled along the Amalfi Coast, just beneath the cliffside town of Ravello, Hotel Marmorata swept us off our feet—with both its breathtaking location and its unmistakable nautical charm.
The Hidden Harbor
We Didn't Know We Needed
Perched on the rocky shoreline, this former paper mill-turned-boutique hotel is tucked away in a quiet inlet, surrounded by cascading cliffs and the endless shimmer of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It truly felt like discovering a hidden cove after a long sail—peaceful, private, and utterly enchanting.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the thoughtful design touches: weathered wood, rope accents, marine lanterns, and navy-striped upholstery that echoed the aesthetic we love at Our Boat House. The lobby felt more like the captain’s quarters of an old-world ship, and the rooms offered the same relaxed, refined feel of a luxury coastal cottage.
Dining with a Sea Breeze
Dining at the hotel was another highlight. Their restaurant, L’Antica Cartiera, is set just above the waterline. The sounds of the sea, the fresh catch of the day, and candlelit tables gave us the feeling of dining aboard a classic yacht anchored in a quiet harbor. The attention to detail—from the table settings to the service—mirrored the kind of understated luxury we aim to create in coastal homes.
Hiking to Heaven: The Climb to Ravello
While the hotel sits at the base of Ravello, we couldn’t resist the adventure of hiking all the way to the top. And let me tell you—it was worth every step. The trail zigzagged past olive trees, lemon groves, and dramatic cliffside views until we reached the heart of Ravello, where time seems to stand still.
At the summit, we were greeted by the famed statues overlooking the sea at Villa Cimbrone. Standing there, wind in our hair, gazing over the coastline, we felt the full magic of the Amalfi—history, elegance, and nature all blending into one.
A Nautical Dream Realized
As travelers who curate coastal-inspired furnishings and décor for a living, we are always on the lookout for places that live the lifestyle. Hotel Marmorata didn’t just lean into the nautical theme—it embraced it fully, and authentically. If you’re a fan of seaside living, sailing culture, or simply crave that breezy Mediterranean aesthetic, this is a destination that deserves a spot on your list.
- Nautical Design Inspiration: From porthole mirrors to brass fixtures, this hotel is a treasure trove of ideas for coastal interiors.
- Natural Materials: The use of incorporating the natural stone, rope, and textured linens gave everything a warm, lived-in elegance.
- Seaside Serenity: Falling asleep to the sound of waves? Unbeatable.
- Walkability + Adventure: Ravello’s heights and views are within reach—literally.
