Blue & White

Why does blue and white always grab my attention and make me stop and stare? It doesn't matter what it is, if it's blue and white, I am drawn to it like a sailor to the sea……Blue and white reminds me of summer days on the ocean, hydrangeas in full bloom against a weathered bench, shiny white sailboats gliding through the deep blue sea. My favorite things in nature inspire some of my favorite interiors.

This room brings summer days right in with crisp whites, cool shades of blue, accented by sandy tones and natural textures.

The deep blue sea and crisp white sailboats...the perfect colors to use in your home.

It's a New Year and time to make your home the best it can be?

Nothing is better then feeling good and enjoying your life. Your home is your sanctuary and a welcoming, comfortable home actually makes you feel good, lifts your mood and makes life more enjoyable.

Start by looking at each room with a new perspective. Are there better ways to arrange the furniture? Does your furniture arrangement make the best use of the space by capitalizing on focal points such as a fireplace or beautiful window views and, at the same time, remain conducive to conversation?. Do you feel calm when you enter each room? Are the colors pleasing and the rooms uncluttered.? Try using neutral or soft colors on the furniture and walls and accenting with your favorite colors through accessories, art and throw pillows.
In this room, there are wonderfully soft, comfortable furniture pieces arranged with easy conversation in mind. The fireplace remains the focal point and the windows surround the room with open light. Neutral slipcovered furniture create a cohesive, welcoming feel throughout the room.

Is there a special place for you to relax and read...surrounded by your favorite things?

This can be in your bedroom or in a quiet corner in the living area.. Are you hiding wonderful light and views with drapery? Open up your space by using simple drapery panels pulled all the way back to let in light. Start the drapery rod close to the ceiling line to give the illusion of taller ceilings. Keep it simple!

This chaise lounge is the perfect place to relax, to read or to just hug your best friend. The windows are kept open and airy with sheer drapery panels , creating an ethereal feel..

Do your Rooms Feel Complete or Do They Need Finishing Touches?

Sometimes, you can have all of the elements, but there is still something missing to tie the room together. Whether it be the right lighting, accent colors, or an area rug,..a few finishing touches could be all that is needed to make your room feel complete..
The right mix of materials in natural accents will add interest and create a serene mood...white coral, natural wood, touches of crisp blue and white, the sparkle of silver and glass, and the rustic verdigri copper all come together to add unique seaside style.

Poufs can be thrown to the fire or coffee table...they provide a comfy place to sit.

The Handwoven Merino Wool Throw is the most luxurious and unusual throw that we have ever seen..just the presence of this throw in a room creates instant calm and draws you in to curl up..

These vivid and beautiful blue/green coral pillows add a dramatic touch to your bed or on a sofa or chaise.

This jute braided hand spun rug is the perfect anchor in your living area. the beautiful natural texture will unify the space and add textural interest.

What Inspires You? Where do you Start the Design Process?

We get inspiration from nature and all the wonderful colors and textures found in nature. Beachy colors of soft blues, greens and sand tones. Textures of sea grass, rattan, and wicker. We love pops of sparkle with glass lamps and antiqued silver, copper and brass. A mix of old and new to give the home a timeless touch. We love pieces that have been touched by sea glass floats that have been in the ocean for decades and show time worn imperfections or an old lantern that was once used on the deck of a ship. We emphasize comfort and warmth along with creating a home that fits the personality of the people who live there and their lifestyle.

Your home should nourish your soul and there is nothing better then coming home to a a soft white throw and snuggling up on a a chaise lounge by the fire.

What are your Favorite Paint Colors for the Coastal Home?

We are drawn to a neutral palettes of blues, greens and sands. These colors are soothing and calming. They remind us of our summers on the beach. Some paint colors we use... Benjamin Moore's Patriotic White ( a very soft blue), Seafoam ( a very soft blue green barely there), Healing Aloe, Manchester Tan, Linen white, Cloud White Ralph Lauren's Agave Blue suede paint (Dreamy blue. With the right lighting it looks like your under water, perfect for a guest bath room with lots of white trim.)

How Can You Freshen Up Your Home?

There are so many ways to freshen up your home. New paint is one of the best ways. Lighten up your space go with calming neutrals. Add color through accents... pillows and throws, a beautiful blue and white bowl filled with your favorite sea shells. Add a new sofa and keep it neutral and classic with slip covered pieces or leather for a warmer look. A new area rug can change the whole look of the room and anchor the space. Go with a natural jute or add beachy color with a crisp striped rug. Change your bedding..make your bed room your sanctuary. Soft organic linens will not only look wonderful but you will sleep better too.

Get rid of clutter ..edit, edit, edit. Start by taking all the accessories out of your room and then putting back only your favorites in groupings of three's..odd numbers always is much more pleasing to the eye.
