Let Your Art Tell Your Story

Our coastal art collection has been curated to showcase the coastal vibe that embodies everything Our Boat House. We have carefully selected a variety of giclees, prints and photography that speak to us in ways we can only feel. Art is something that is so incredibly personal to each individual. Walk through someone's home and admire their art collection, it will tell you a story.

What exactly is a Giclee? In order to print a giclee, a 12 color inkjet printer squirts special pigments (not dyes) onto archival quality material – 100% cotton paper, linen rag, or canvas. Giclee prints demonstrate longevity with fade-resistant colors. The beauty of a giclee print is that each reproduction is as true to the original as possible, and a lot of that has to do with the 12 colors of the printer. Printers with 12 colors are better suited to accurately recreating the original look of the image.

One of our all time favorite pieces is the White Boat with Red Buoy Giclée by local artist Mary-Louise O’Sullivan. Mary Louise was born in Biltmore Forest located near Asheville, NC and after living in Spain for many years, she eventually settled in Palm Beach, FL. She has an active work studio, producing art for several years- some that are featured at Our Boat House and the island’s galleries. Her original oil paintings are on Belgian Linen and collected all over the country. She is also a published author for books about wildlife and landscape.

This Floating White Pelican Giclee is another of our favorites from this artist.

Why we love her so much: O’Sullivan started by loving to paint water since she lived on a boat for 12 years. She concentrates on character and texture. “Boats should have ribs like birds have feathers and joints. Everything, even old and decrepit, becomes more beautiful when reflected in water.” We couldn’t agree more!

This Blue Horizon Giclee is by Colleen Nash Becht. This giclee originated as a water color. Colleen is one of America’s prominent fine water colorists. She grew up on the Treasure Coast of Florida and has the talent and the eye to create photo realistic paintings.  Her water colors are intricate and detailed, often her hyper-realistic renditions are done at close range. She is an expert on capturing illumination provided from natural, organic sunlight – she is inspired by Florida’s landscape and coastal life.

We love supporting our local artists, not only do their pieces fit in so well with our aesthetic but they seem to deeply appreciate living by the water as much as we do.
