Product Round Up: Area Rugs

Let's face it: an area rug is artwork for the floor. When designing a spaces, one of the first inspiration items to begin with is a rug. It anchors our favorite core pieces: a neutral slipcovered sofa, loveseat, accent chairs as well as cocktail and end tables. From here, any color scheme will follow suit, but for now we are navigating in navy territory. Navy blue is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith and truth. All shades of blue are considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. No wonder it is one of the most popular hues we like to use at Our Boat House in our nautical designs. In fact, it is the all-time favorite color forcoastal area rugs.

Other areas for RUGS

In a kitchen, we typically see the standard 24” x 36” area rug in front of the sink, range or main workspace. There is nothing more pleasing to me than a large runner anchoring a bank of beautiful white coastal cabinetry. Stripes, patterns, prints or solids - you can go in any direction.

Kitchen Rug Tips: A bold stripe in a runner brightens this kitchen. Don’t worry about spills with polypropylene or the PET rugs because they clean easily with clean warm soapy water or simply take them out back and give them a good hosing down. Easiest products to clean and fading isn’t a problem as they are UV treated. Runner sizes start are 2’-5” wide x 8’, 12’, 16’, 18’ and 20’ in length depending on pattern selected.

Rug Benefits: Outdoor Rugs provide the flexibility to use in any room, inside or out, while offering geometric, solid, plaid, and stripe patterns to epitomize your coastal style.
